The Transformation of a Modern Spanish Home in Redondo Beach

When we first approached this Redondo Beach home, it had a very traditional appearance, but we saw the potential to revamp it into a stunning Coastal Spanish Modern retreat. Our goal was to brighten the facade, streamline the architectural elements, and introduce contemporary details that honored the home’s roots while giving it a fresh, modern feel.

The Vision: A Modern Take on Spanish Coastal Design

We aimed to create a seamless blend of classic Spanish charm with a clean, modern aesthetic. By refining the structure and incorporating fresh materials, we transformed the exterior into an inviting and stylish space that reflects coastal living.

The Process: A Complete Exterior Transformation

This transformation focused on enhancing the home's curb appeal while maintaining timeless Spanish influences. Here’s how we achieved it:

1. Reshaping the Architectural Elements

We squared off the columns, roofline, and siding borders to give the home a more streamlined and contemporary silhouette. These changes created a crisp, clean look that modernized the overall appearance while preserving the essence of Spanish architecture.

2. Brightening with a Fresh Stucco Finish

Previously painted a dated light yellow, the home’s exterior received a fresh coat of white stucco, instantly elevating its brightness and making it feel more expansive. The new color not only enhanced the coastal aesthetic but also provided a perfect backdrop for the updated design elements.

3. Upgrading Railings & Entry Features

The original railing, made of columns, was removed and replaced with sleek, modern iron railings that added both elegance and functionality. Additionally, we demolished the outdated exterior front fencing and created a more private entrance by integrating stucco walls with modern wood fencing, giving the home a fresh and inviting look.

4. Enhancing Textures with Tile & Brick

To add depth and dimension to the facade, we incorporated decorative tile on key surfaces and used brick tile on the columns, creating a warm yet contemporary feel. These textural elements helped bridge traditional Spanish charm with a modern touch.

5. Updating the Lighting for a Bold Statement

New modern black lanterns replaced the existing light fixtures, providing a stylish contrast against the white stucco. These fixtures not only improved visibility but also enhanced the home’s refined and elegant ambiance.

6. Transforming the Front Door

The original dark brown traditional door felt outdated, so we replaced it with a more transitional light brown wood door featuring square see-through windows. This update not only modernized the entryway but also introduced warmth and an inviting touch to the home’s facade.

7. Adding Decorative Tile to the Walkway

To enhance the approach to the home, we incorporated decorative tile along the walkway, adding a pop of color and character leading to the front door. This detail created a more inviting and visually engaging path to the entrance.

8. Enhancing the Upstairs Deck & Outdoor Living

We updated the upstairs deck by adding new tile, giving it a fresh and stylish look that ties into the home’s overall design. Additionally, we upgraded the outdoor furniture to complement the modern aesthetic and enhance the comfort of the outdoor living space.

9. Creating a Lush & Modern Landscape

To complement the new design, we installed custom stucco planters filled with bright succulents and vibrant greenery. These additions brought a fresh and natural element to the exterior while reinforcing the home’s coastal charm.

The Final Look: A Coastal Spanish Modern Masterpiece

With these thoughtful updates, the home’s exterior now exudes a modern yet timeless appeal. The combination of bright stucco, streamlined architecture, and contemporary details has completely transformed the curb appeal, turning it into a private yet welcoming coastal retreat.

This project was an incredible journey, and we are thrilled with the results. If you’re considering an exterior transformation, we’d love to help bring your vision to life!
